Rubbish product, rubbish support

Monday, 16 November 2009

I recently bought a SnowBall microphone, after having read several positive reviews. Turns out I should have read more reviews.

The mike has extremely low gain, so much so that it is essentially useless for my purposes. I contacted support (having read that there had been manufacturing difficulties, and that Blue had actually issued a firmware patch for earlier models, tho not for mine, apparently).

After 5 days(!), I received an email from support asking for a sample, which I sent back the same day. Two days later, support emailed that it had been received, and they’d take a listen. Since then, nothing. Not a word, nada. Pinged the support guy again several days later, no reply.

I would strongly advise anyone to avoid this product, and for that matter, this company. What crap!

Exercise

In the process of splitting about 12 tons of firewood in preparation for Tassie’s winter. Must be good exercise, I’m absolutely buggered.

Continuing in the theme of Mac apps that are just so good . . .

I was attempting to download a copy of a web site recently to work on it. Everything I tried kept giving up with timeouts, etc. in such a way that it was a dreadful task knowing in which sub-sub-folder to restart. I suspect the problems were caused by a combination of my satellite-based ISP (I live in the boonies), and the site itself. Anyway, it was a disaster all around.

Anyhoo, along comes YummyFTP. Such an excellent application, and so tenacious in trying and re-trying in the case of error, with no stupid dialog boxes telling me it was having trouble, just a log entry that I could monitor if I so chose. The website was successfully downloaded in no time. Suffice it to say, I’ve purchased the app.

Now if I could only find a Mac HTTP/HTTPS downloader that was so brilliant, I wouldn’t have to be running off to a windoze vm to use FlashGet.

First post from the iphone

Just a test to make sure this works. I’m using the WordPress iPhone app.

Works OK, but a lot of posts contain lots of links, and that would be a real PITA, especially with no copy/paste!

An excellent course in Cocoa: eager to get started making use of it. I’ve been dabbling with using TextMate and its Objective-C bundle as the editor. Certainly has advanges over Xcode as an intelligent text editor. And it’s very tailorable.

Back now to our farm in Tassie, to find that the wannabe farm dog, Jack the Papillon, is so happy, his beautiful tail is now up and over. See attached piccie for Pap and view.
